2022 | EKWC | THE NETHERLANDS
EKWC is an international artist-in-residency and centre-of-excellence for ceramics. Currently located in a former tannery in the city of Oisterwijk, the centre has received, for over 50 years, artists and designers to work and experiment with clay. The combination of world-class facilities, the presence of consultants with internationally leading technical knowledge and the openness to freely share recipes, processes and innovations, makes EKWC an unique place to create ceramics in the world.
In the three months of the residency, Parada created a series of works, part of them exhibited in his first international solo show. The opening of Upstream Focus: Juan Parada took place during the Amsterdam Art Week 2022, occupying the private viewing space in the historic building of Upstream Gallery.
EKWC é um programa internacional de residências artísticas e centro de excelência para cerâmica. Atualmente localizado num antigo curtume na cidade de Oisterwijk, recebe há mais de 50 anos artistas e designers que desejam trabalhar e explorar os limites do material. A combinação de infraestrutura de primeira linha, presença de consultores técnicos altamente qualificados e o livre intercâmbio para troca de receitas, processos e inovações com a equipe e demais artistas residentes, fazem do EKWC um lugar único para a produção em cerâmica no mundo.
Ao longo dos três meses de residência, Parada criou uma série de trabalhos, alguns deles expostos em sua primeira individual fora do Brasil. A abertura de Upstream Focus: Juan Parada ocorreu durante a Amsterdam Art Week 2022, ocupando o espaço de exibição privado no edifício histórico da Upstream Gallery.
