2018 | Superagui Expedition
The island of Superagui, on the coast of Paraná, is an environmental protection area of great biodiversity. Not very far from the village, one can find a very peculiar situation. The encounter of a lagoon with the sea forms hundreds of drawings, created by the flow of the tides, carved by the water in the sand – a series of reliefs of great complexity. Not only the water, but also living beings create these patterns, which served as inspiration to a series of works idealized from this singular place. These “images” were three-dimensionally copied. With plaster, molds were produced from these reliefs, creating negatives, then casted in cement, freezing these ephemeral patterns which, from the movement of the water, are completely reconfigured, setting a new landscape at every flow of the tides. With this great natural poetry as a reference, the works were executed in the artist’s studio, at the time in Curitiba, and later presented, in the same city, in the solo exhibition Elogio ao Elementar, 2018, at SIM Galeria.
A ilha de Superagui, no litoral do Paraná, é uma área de proteção ambiental que possui grande riqueza natural. Em um local um pouco afastado do vilarejo, pode ser encontrada uma situação muito peculiar. No encontro de uma lagoa com o mar, ocorre a formação de centenas de desenhos, criados a partir do fluxo das marés, esculpidos pela água na areia – uma série de relevos, de grande complexidade. Não só a água, mas também alguns seres vivos criam esses padrões, que serviram como inspiração para uma série de trabalhos idealizados a partir da experiência nesse lugar. Essas “imagens” foram copiadas de forma tridimensional. Com gesso, foram produzidas fôrmas desses relevos, criando negativos, então reproduzidos em cimento, congelando esses padrões efêmeros, que com o movimento da água se reconfiguram por completo, gerando uma nova paisagem a cada fluxo da maré. Tendo como referência essa grande poesia natural, as obras foram realizadas no ateliê do artista, então em Curitiba, e posteriormente apresentadas na mesma cidade na exposição individual Elogio ao Elementar, em 2018, na SIM Galeria.
